Tagetes lemmonii (Mexican Marigold) is a bushy evergreen shrub with orange-yellow flowers in fall-winter, grows 4-6 ft tall 6-10 ft wide. Has a strong fragrance that is released from the divided foliage when rubbed or brushed against. Sun to part shade in well-drained soil. Drought tolerant in coastal gardens but looks best with a little irrigation - too much water or too little light produces leggy plants that don't bloom well. Attracts bees and butterflies and other pollinators. Deer resistant.
