Perennial. Historically, comfrey was used as a whole-leaf poultice for bruises and sprains. We love comfrey for it's permaculture fame. Not only is the plant a great pollinator- providing both nectar and habitat for beneficial insects, it is a compost bio-activator. This means, adding fast growing comfrey leaves (chopped up or brewed as a tea) to your compost will speed up the composting process and add great nutrition to your pile. Or you can dig the leaves back into the soil to improve soil health. Finally, the roots are big and strong and perfect for breaking up heavy clay. A perfect way to get a new bed in your yard started. It is amazing!
